Trading Concrete for Canopies: Our Leap Into Roadschooling & Full-Time Travel

The Driveway Reality Check
The bags are packed. Our 2023 Surveyor basecamp is prepped and getting shipped ahead of us. Standing in the driveway looking at the Jeep Compass, the reality of what we are about to do is finally setting in. That vehicle is about to carry our entire world 3,000 miles across the country.
We are officially leaving the familiar Florida concrete behind for the towering pines of Trinity Lake, California.
This isn't just a long road trip or an extended vacation. This is a complete lifestyle redesign. We are stepping into a season of Work-camping, digital nomadism, and most importantly, the beginning of our homeschooling journey.
Why The World is Our Classroom
When you look at a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old, you realize how incredibly fast the window of childhood closes. We didn't want to spend these formative years rushing them out the door, navigating drop-off lines, and fitting our family time into the margins of a traditional 9-to-5 schedule.
We wanted the world to be their classroom.
We are embracing "roadschooling." Instead of just reading about the Redwood forests, they are going to stand underneath them. Instead of looking at pictures of the American West, they are going to watch it unfold through the windows of the Subaru. We want to teach them resilience by watching us build Golden Rule Ventures from the road. We want to teach them self-reliance by watching us cook from scratch and troubleshoot life on the fly.
The Fear and The Faith
If we are being completely honest, we are a little scared.
Stepping away from the predictable path is terrifying. There is comfort in knowing exactly what tomorrow looks like, knowing where the nearest grocery store is, and having a fixed foundation beneath your feet. Trading that for 3,000 miles of highway and a life in a travel trailer requires a massive mental shift. We are leaving our comfort zone entirely in the rearview mirror.
But bigger than the fear is the calling. We are riding the wings of faith on this journey. We deeply believe that the greatest growth happens right on the other side of your biggest fears. We are trusting that this leap into the unknown is exactly where our family is meant to be.
Overwhelming Gratitude
We cannot take this leap alone, and the truth is, we aren't.
To everyone who has grabbed a copy of a That Hippie Fam Guide, booked a Flash Build to overhaul your business infrastructure, or simply sponsored a mile of our trip—thank you. You are the wind beneath those wings of faith. You aren't just buying digital products; you are actively funding our gas tank, our KOA stays, and this beautiful, wild dream for our boys.
The Ascent is fueled up. The route is mapped. The faith is stronger than the fear.
Next stop: California. 🌲🚐💨
